Senta & IRIS – your questions answered

Webinar

Following the announcement of the acquisition of Senta by IRIS, a lot of people had a lot of questions. So we held a webinar where Senta founders Phil & James were joined by some of our new colleagues at IRIS to answer as many of these questions as possible.

You can view the full recording here. And we’ve detailed the main answers below. If you’ve still got questions – please do email us marketing@senta.co .

Why did IRIS buy Senta?

IRIS acquired Senta and its innovative cloud practice management solution to accelerate the progression of IRIS Elements. It’s part of the wider cloud strategy.

IRIS saw the cloud trends accelerating some time ago and embarked on a major investment in the transformation of the way we develop our solutions, both in terms of processes and delivery.

Senta is perfectly aligned to IRIS’ vision for customer-led development and design, providing a substantial opportunity to help accountancy firms be more profitable, more scalable and deliver great customer service.

Will my prices go up?

No. We will keep the current pricing and renewal model for Senta. As with any SaaS product, there are lower-cost pricing models if you commit to an annual subscription.

There is no need to worry about ‘lock-ins’ if you are on a 30-day subscription. If you have longer Iris contracts, then you’ll be able to add Senta to that, but that’s a choice, not a stipulation.

Some people may even get a price reduction if they already have a discount with IRIS.

Will my contract change?

No. You entered a contract with Senta and there is no need to worry about ‘lock-ins’ if you are on a 30-day subscription. If you have longer Iris contracts, then you’ll be able to add Senta to that, but that’s a choice, not a stipulation.

Will APIs / integrations change?

No.  Not only will we be keeping existing integrations, having more development resource means that we’ll have the opportunity to extend and expand our integrations.

Will the quality of support deteriorate?

No. The quality of support will absolutely not deteriorate. We’ve always been dedicated to a customer-first approach and have been since the company was founded in 2014.

The whole Senta team believes passionately in supporting customers, and with IRIS’ resources and team, we expect support to improve over time. The support team are unique in that they love problem-solving and trying to find new ways of using Senta.

In particular, the extra resources will enable us to focus on even better onboarding support, which we know can be time-consuming for new Senta customers.

Will you continue to develop new features for Senta?

We want to accelerate development, not slow it down.  The aim is to do two things: firstly, to improve the UX of Senta; secondly to add extra features much more rapidly than we’ve been able to as a small team.

Senta does some amazing things already, and we want to increase the delivery speed.  We are going to put more development in place and we want it to go as fast as it can.

What about staffing?

ALL Sentanauts will be joining IRIS. James and Phil will continue to lead the team.

Will there be any changes in the way Senta will support their clients?

No. Our dedication to our clients is central to all of us at Senta.  There are no plans to change the structure of support or the people. IRIS are here to help grow the support and continue that high-quality level of support that Senta clients expect.

Is Senta replacing the current IRIS practice management module in the IRIS suite?

Senta is a keystone of the IRIS Elements platform and will be the main practice management tool.

What are the implications for non UK customers?

Senta supports clients all around the world and this will continue. The ambition of IRIS Elements is to be international. IRIS operates in 135 different countries around the world and are set to expand further.

Will bookkeepers continue to be supported by Senta and IRIS?

Yes. IRIS already works with bookkeepers and has a real focus on building the bookkeeping market out to support workflow management. IRIS wants to build flexibility with Elements that will work for bookkeepers. And there will be lots of other great software on offer to give you more choices.

Will Senta be linked to Taxfiler?

We are currently looking into this.

Will we be offering any competitive pricing to those who subscribe to a number of IRIS products in addition to Senta?

Yes, IRIS offers that already. Senta is now another piece of technology available to you and you can access that in your agreement.

How long will Senta be able to integrate with Xero for?

We will continue to integrate with Xero for as long as they say yes. There are no plans to change this at all. It is critical to enable all these systems to connect.
